WhatsApp Tests New “Favourites” Filter to Prioritize Important Chats.

It has been reported that WhatsApp for Android is developing a new feature that will enable users to add and filter their preferred chats for convenient access. This functionality is reportedly being developed and is being made available to testers who signed up for the Google Play Beta Program. These users will be able to view and use the feature once it launches in beta. Notably, it has also been reported that WhatsApp is testing group filters that will display particular chats and unread messages.

WhatsApp is beta testing a new favorites filter

The new feature was discovered on the Android WhatsApp beta by feature tracker WABetaInfo. Using a new filter, the functionality allows users to group their favorite chats. Those who struggle to locate their usual contacts and receive a lot of communications from multiple people may find it useful. Although there is a conversation-pinning feature as well, the platform only permits three pinned chats at a time.

A screenshot of the function was also posted by the publication. Four additional filters are seen at the top of the screen in the picture (below the WhatsApp logo). It is said that the Groups, Unread, and All filters were implemented earlier. There’s a fourth Favorites filter shown now.

How the WhatsApp Favorites Chat Filter Operates

“Make it easy to find the people and groups that matter most across WhatsApp,” reads the feature description. To manually add contacts to this list, click the “Add to Favorites” button located towards the bottom.

Additionally, according to WABetaInfo, users can rearrange and remove chats to suit their preferences. Although not every beta tester will see the feature right away because it is still in beta testing, it should become available over the course of the next few days.

WhatsApp Gives Beta Testers Longer Voice Messages

Separately, WhatsApp has extended the maximum voice message duration in status updates. The instant messaging network has extended the duration of audio messages uploaded by users from 30 seconds to one minute.

On iOS and Android, this feature has been released simultaneously. In addition, it has been stated that the platform is developing an Imagine shortcut that will enable users to create AI-powered photographs. Meta AI is used to power this functionality.
