Review of the Yale Assure Lock 2: a promising all-arounder.

A sleek Bluetooth smart lock that will auto-unlock for you as you reach your doorstep, the Yale Assure Lock 2 is a promising all-rounder when it comes to smart locks. The Bluetooth smart lock is compatible with Apple Home.

More about Yale Assure Lock 2

There are three main things to look out for in a smart lock, namely design, more than two ways to control the lock, and connectivity with smartphones. Yale’s latest Assure Lock 2 checks all these boxes efficiently.

Starting at $159.99 for a physical keypad and $179.99 for a touchscreen, the Yale Assure Lock 2 is available with or without a physical keyhole. The entry-level variants all come with built-in Bluetooth and may be unlocked using the keypad, Bluetooth, the Yale app on a phone or Apple Watch, or Apple Home.

Pros and Cons of the Yale Assure Lock 2

Here are some pros about the Assure Lock 2:

  • Automatic unlocking
  • Compact design
  • Options to add in modules for Z-wave, Wi-fi, and the like
  • Easily compatible with Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, and the like

Here are some cons of the same:

  • The touchscreen version of the lock is not intuitive enough.

The Yale Assure Lock 2 is one of the most discreet-looking keypads. The matte touchscreen is barely noticeable if the door is of a darker shade. The rear housing is significantly smaller than most other smart locks.

The Assure SL line’s keyed versions have an entirely new appearance, bringing them in line with the keypad-only models’ sleeker stylings, while the keypad-only models haven’t changed significantly from the original Assure SL range.
