Mark Zuckerberg is in the news again but for different reasons altogether. It seems that he is not able to dodge questions that he bought out an entire arena for a big UFC show. Speculation is already rife that he wants to hop into the ring and test his skills against a real opponent.
The UFC committee had announced earlier in the week that access to the Las Vegas facility was being restricted. A UFC event was to be hosted at the Apex facility for Fight Night. A woman, Mackenzie Dern is set to compete in the featherweight category in the title bout against a Chinese MMA fighter. She made a statement to ESPN that Mark Zuckerberg had made a booking for the whole event. She wasn’t sure if Zuckerberg would be there in person, or if he wanted to ensure that it was a private event. According to Dern, it would be extremely private.
Dana White, UFC’s president was very vocal in her denial of Mark Zuckerberg booking the entire event. She made this comment to refute Dern’s statement to USPN. Meta didn’t respond right away when they were approached for information. Even though Dana White issued a strong denial, Mark Zuckerberg has been in the news lately for saying that he loves MMA and Jiu-Jitsu and such. With his statements and other information leaks, there is a lot of speculation about what is going on. It looks like the closed venue may have something to do with Zuckerberg trying to promote Meta or something else.
One thing is for sure – even though the event and venue are closed to the public, the fight will be on ESPN via live streaming.
