Apple has released the fifth beta version of iOS 16.1 for developers to test. The beta is expected to be available just one week after the launch of iOS 16.1 beta 4. iOS 16.1 betas. This iOS 16.1 beta is followed by the six beta versions of iPadOS 16.1. It is currently somewhat different from the previous betas in that Apple began testing it before iOS 16.
Registered developers can download iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 profiles from the Apple Developer Center, and the betas will be accessible over the air after installation.
iOS 16.1 adds Live Activities The interactive notification feature that lets you keep a watch on what’s happening live on your Lock Screen and, on the iPhone 14 Pro, the Dynamic Island.
The two organizations, AppleInsider and Apple themselves, strongly suggest users not use beta software, operating systems, and any beta software on “mission-critical” and primary hardware since there’s a risk of issues that may cause the deletion of important data. Users should instead use second or less essential hardware and ensure they are backed up with enough backups of their information at all times.
In the beta version, Apple tweaked the design of the icon of the battery status bar and added a visual indicator of the charge level. The battery icon was also altered in font and changed to reflect the Lock Screen charging indicator, and the copy-and-paste issue was corrected.
Other new features included in the latest update include the deletable Wallet app, adjustments in the Lock Screen customization interface, and many more. More details are found in the iOS 16.1 guides to features.
