The long-rumoured Apple AR/VR device the issue has been being talked about in these past several months. In a recent report from MacRumors, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the company’s next Mixed Reality headset delays could occur due to issues related with the software. The report doesn’t provide details of the software-related issues the technology giant based in Cupertino has to deal with regarding AR/VR technology. The report also states that these issues could delay the distribution of the device into the second quarter of 2023.
Apple AR/VR headset: Expected details
Kuo believes Apple will announce the AR/VR headset during WWDC 2023 (which usually occurs around June) if it isn’t publicly announced until early 2023. Kuo also expects Apple to make its software Development Kit ( SDK ) available simultaneously. SDKs can help developers create AR/VR apps on the device.
The bulk shipment of parts of the VR gadget will likely begin in the first quarter of 2023, says Kuo. But, Apple may not start shipping its complete headset until after the 2nd quarter of 2023. It believes this could lead to a delay in the launch, even if Apple unveils its Mixed Reality headset in early 2023.
In the past, Kuo claimed that Apple could reveal its Mixed Reality headset during a press event in January 2023. It could begin mass production during the 2nd quarter. The report needs to clarify whether the shipment delay could delay the headset’s official announcement date.
